With a population of 615,932, Leipzig is the most populous city in the Free State of Saxony and the seventh-largest city in Germany. It serves as a historic center of business, trade, transport, administration, culture, and education for Central Germany, and is currently a hub for the “creative scene” as well as a major center for trade fairs and higher education.

To address climate change as a global issue, action must be taken at the local level. The City of Leipzig is rising to this challenge by developing a Solar Energy Register in partnership with Geoplex.

A Solar Energy Register from Geoplex helps identify local solar potential in a targeted manner and effectively raise public awareness about the use of solar energy. The Solar Energy Register is thus a vital tool for supporting the energy transition at the local level and driving it forward systematically. Find out more about our Solar Energy Register here.

Beyond the core functionality, Leipzig has also commissioned the new “Facade PV” extension. With the help of “Facade PV,” the financial viability calculator can now also perform cost-effectiveness analyses for facade or balcony PV systems.
