The Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district is located in the northwest of the Bavarian administrative region of Middle Franconia and is home to approximately 100,000 residents across an area of ​​1,267.44 km². The district is a member of the West Middle Franconia planning region and the Nuremberg metropolitan region.

To address climate change as a global problem, local action is necessary. The Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district is also taking on this challenge and is establishing a solar and green roof cadastre with Geoplex.

A solar cadastre from Geoplex helps with the project by specifically identifying existing local solar potential and effectively raising citizens’ awareness of the use of solar energy. The solar cadastre is therefore an important tool for supporting and systematically advancing the energy transition at the local level.

With a green roof cadastre from Geoplex, homeowners can find out whether green roofs are possible on their own house or garage roof. Based on the automatically detected roof sides of a building, a mathematical check is carried out to determine whether each roof side is suitable for green roofs.
