Chur is the capital of the Swiss canton of Graubünden as well as the Plessur region. It is located on the Alpine Rhine and is the seat of the Diocese of Chur. Chur is considered the oldest city in Switzerland, with over 5,000 years of documented settlement history and a remarkably well-preserved, car-free old town. In addition, it serves as an important starting point for major Alpine regions and famous panoramic railway routes.

The city of Chur aims to visualize its own 3D city model (3D mesh and CityGML) using PlexMap 3D. In addition, the PlexMap Planner will be used to develop a tool for integrating and visualizing the city’s own urban development projects and designs. Chur will also use PlexMap Oblique to display its own oblique aerial images.

A particular focus is on the detailed development of the “Chur West” area. As part of a joint project between the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) and the city, a new station is being built in Chur West, featuring a barrier-free, multimodal transport hub with public transport connections extending beyond Chur. In addition to transport-specific and technical facilities, the station will be optimally accessible for trains, buses, PostAuto services, as well as bicycle and pedestrian traffic, to keep pace with the future growth of the Chur West district. An attractive station square with a public meeting area and a bicycle station for 170 bikes will also be created.
