The Schleswig-Flensburg district is a district in the north of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Its 206,385 inhabitants live on an area of 2,071.33 km². Measured by its area, it is the third-largest district in the state. Despite its name, the city of Flensburg is not part of the district, as it is an independent district. The district capital is Schleswig. To address climate change as a global problem, local action is necessary. The Schleswig-Flensburg district is also rising to this challenge and is building a comprehensive energy portal with Geoplex, which consists of the individual components of a solar and green roof cadastre, as well as a heat cadastre.

To make it easier for building owners, in particular, to learn about the suitability and cost-effectiveness of photovoltaic and solar thermal systems, as well as green roofs, the project’s first work package will create a solar and green roof cadastre. To close the value chain, links to regional tradespeople and planning offices will be established at the same time.

A solar cadastre from Geoplex will help the project identify existing solar potential locally and raise awareness among individual citizens about the use of solar energy. The solar cadastre is therefore an important tool for supporting and systematically advancing the energy transition at the local level. The green roof cadastre allows homeowners to find out whether green roofs are feasible on their own house or garage roof.

The project’s second work package will create a heat cadastre. The system will provide building owners, in particular, with quick and easy information about the economic and ecological benefits of changing their heating system. To facilitate the transition from theory to practice, links to regional experts are also provided here.
