The district of Forchheim has announced the publication of its solar cadastre, which offers citizens and businesses a comprehensive overview of the solar potential on their own roofs. Many citizens are wondering whether a photovoltaic system for their own electricity consumption on their roof is worthwhile and technically feasible, or whether heat can be generated economically using a solar thermal system on the roof of their house. Many roofs in the district have untapped potential. The solar cadastre is an innovative online tool that allows users to check the suitability of their roofs for the installation of solar power systems and solar thermal systems.

A solar cadastre from Geoplex helps identify existing solar potential locally and raise awareness among individual citizens about the use of solar energy. The solar cadastre is thus an important tool for supporting and systematically advancing the energy transition at the local level.

“We are pleased to provide this important tool, which not only contributes to the energy transition but also helps our citizens save costs and live more sustainably,” says District Administrator Dr. Hermann Ulm.
