Founded more than 2,000 years ago as Augusta Treverorum, Trier is considered the oldest city in Germany, having already held city rights in Roman times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"556\" src=\"https:\/\/www.geoplex.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/trier-cut-1024x556.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.geoplex.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/trier-cut-980x532.png 980w, https:\/\/www.geoplex.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/trier-cut-480x261.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Geoplex has been providing a solar cadastre for the city of Trier since 2012. In 2020, the system was updated on the data side and upgraded to PlexMap Solar. Now, the city&#8217;s Office for Land Management and Geoinformation has decided to expand its own instance to include PlexMap 3D and PlexMap Oblique. The city of Trier aims to establish a central data hub through PlexMap Magazine and the PlexMap Switchboard and also relies on PlexMap for its own CityGML data storage.
